Most current coaching methodologies are action-based models, focusing on goal clarity, action steps, and accountability plans.  These work great in the short-term, when motivation is high, and a coach is readily available to champion the progress.  But the amount of energy this strategy requires often deteriorates over time, and we lose our ability to stick with the program -- and sustain our results.
